What’s that old guy doing in the astronaut costume? That old guy is John Glenn, the first American astronaut to orbit the earth, but let’s put that into perspective. He flew 59 combat missions in World War II. He flew 90 combat missions in the Korean War. He flew the first supersonic transcontinental flight. Then, he pilots the Friendship 7 in orbit around the earth a few times. He follows that up by getting elected and serving as a US senator for 24 years. Then, at the ripe old age of 77 he puts on the space suit one more time to become the oldest person to go into space. It doesn’t matter where you are on the political spectrum, you have to admit that this Ohioan practically defines awesomeness.
