The widow of influential Cleveland comic book author Harvey Pekar has created a Kickstarter campaign to build a statue of Harvey.
In the video above, the legendary Alan Moore shares some very nice words about Harvey and what Cleveland means to the comics industry.
Moore says: “In my opinion, [Harvey Pekar] was probably the greatest writer that the comic business produced in the last 40 or 50 years.”
Remember, this is the guy who created The Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and From Hell, so this is no small compliment. The fact that he’s offering his own time as an inducement to donate, is amazing. I can’t think of a bigger compliment in the comics industry.
